Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough near the Four Corners with an accompanying sub-tropical jet streak helped initiate afternoon thunderstorms across much of southeast New Mexico and far west Texas. Several strong to severe thunderstorms developed across this region. One particular thunderstorm developed into a left-moving supercell. This supercell produced a long-track swath of intense straight-line winds in Loving and Lea Counties causing large amounts of wind damage.
