Event narrative

Widespread roadway flooding and some property flooding occurred in the tidal areas of Cape May County. The tide gauge at Ocean City reached 6.42 feet MLLW, the tide gauge at Sea Isle City reached 6.98 feet MLLW, the tide gauge at Avalon reached 7.05 feet MLLW, the tide gauge at Stone Harbor reached 7.25 feet MLLW, the tide gauge at Cape May Harbor reached 7.32 feet MLLW, and the tide gauge at the Cape May Ferry Terminal reached 7.88 feet MLLW.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure centered well off the coast and strong high pressure building southward from eastern Canada resulted in the development of a steady onshore wind on June 3. The pattern brought widespread moderate tidal flooding to the southern part of the New Jersey coast around the evening high tide.
