Event narrative

A peak wind gust of 60 MPH was measured by the automated weather station at the Canyonlands Field Airport outside of Moab.

Wider weather episode

Abundant monsoon moisture resulted in widespread showers and thunderstorms across eastern Utah. Even with a well-saturated profile, the stronger thunderstorms produced gusty winds in excess of 58 mph in addition to heavy rain.
