What the National Weather Service wrote

The Eureka Ridge mesonet station recorded a wind gust of 69 mph as a result of outflow winds associated with a nearby cluster of showers and thunderstorms moving through the area.

The wider storm

Following scattered convection throughout the afternoon hours, a more cohesive squall line formed over Utah's West Desert region. This squall progressed eastward through the northern portions of the state, resulting in a swath of strong to very strong wind gusts, due in part to low dew points and dry low levels of the atmosphere.

Began near Mammoth (39.9400, -112.1100).
