Event narrative

Moderate drought conditions, over central Keya Paha County, improved to abnormally dry (D0) drought conditions by the end of June. Severe (D2) drought conditions improved to moderate (D1) drought conditions by the end of the month. Abnormally dry (D0) drought conditions remained over the western third of the county through the end of the month. The cooperative observer at Springview 2NW reported 5.61 inches of precipitation in June.

Wider weather episode

Adequate precipitation in June across western, far southwestern and portions of north central Nebraska, led to some improvement in drought conditions in these areas. Across the Sandhills, conditions remained largely unchanged for the month. Across portions of Boyd and Holt Counties, drought conditions actually deteriorated by the end of June.
