Event narrative

Severe (D2) drought conditions persisted over far eastern portions of Hooker County through the end of June. Over the remainder of the county, severe (D2) drought conditions improved to moderate (D1) drought conditions by the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Adequate precipitation in June across western, far southwestern and portions of north central Nebraska, led to some improvement in drought conditions in these areas. Across the Sandhills, conditions remained largely unchanged for the month. Across portions of Boyd and Holt Counties, drought conditions actually deteriorated by the end of June.
