Event narrative

The large storm in Pike County led to an outflow boundary which moved through Martin County, causing a tree to blown down near Jack's Branch and KY-292.

Wider weather episode

An unusual pattern set up was in place on Saturday June 3, 2022. A cold front was dropping southwest into the state from the northeast, resulting in strong storms along the boundary in the far eastern portion of the state and moving westward instead of the usual eastward direction. The unstable air led to shower and storm development, with some of the strongest storms setting up across Pike County. Overall these storms led to multiple reports of tree damage across the county. Martin County also received a tree down due to an outflow boundary from the larger storm.
