Numerous trees were downed by thunderstorm winds in the Westover Hills area. Several of these trees caused structural damage to homes.

The wider storm

Strong cold front interacted with an abnormally moist airmass to cause severe thunderstorms to developed across Southside Virginia. Winds from these storms damaged numerous trees, utilities, several vehicles and outbuildings. Thousands of customers lost power due to the damage. There were also a few instances of large hail.
