Event narrative
Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall impacted the affected area during the evening hours of July 14. Radar estimates and ground observations showed between two and four inches of rain fell, leading to scattered areas of flash flooding, most notably in the Middlebury and Ripton areas. In Middlebury, flash flooding and road washouts were reported on Routes 7, 116 and 125. In Ripton, a large landslide occurred along Route 125, destroying one home.
