The wider storm

An occluded low over Michigan and trough over the East Coast allowed for seasonably strong shear and relatively high mid level lapse rates to overspread the region. This resulted in scattered storms which produced damaging winds and large hail on June 26. Additionally, the cold front stalled in the mountains allowing for scattered storms to continue into the early morning hours of June 27.
