A few trees were downed by thunderstorm winds on Cross Creek Drive, as well as on Tennessee Street near Highway 601.
Wider weather episode
A strong upper level disturbance moved east through North Carolina and Virginia. Showers earlier in the day delayed the destabilization of the atmosphere until later in the afternoon, when thunderstorms, some severe, developed across the northern North Carolina Piedmont.
