Event narrative

C-MAN PSTL1 at SW Pass measured a peak wind gust of 56mph or 49kts from thunderstorm winds.

Wider weather episode

A stubborn stalled frontal boundary that had been in place for multiple days continued to be the focal point for thunderstorm development. Even though it was night time, thunderstorms over the marine areas were able to maintain strong/severe intensity due to warmer surface water temperatures. This is quite common during the summertime along the Gulf Coast, especially with a frontal boundary in place. A few storms produced severe winds.
