Broadcast media reported a waterspout off Marco Island around 7 PM associated with a

thunderstorm.

Typically warm and moist air over the Florida peninsula led to shower and thunderstorm development, with an east wind flow moving these storms offshore over the SW Florida Gulf of Mexico waters in the early evening.
