Thunderstorms developed along a dryline and brought severe weather across central to northeastern South Dakota during the mid-afternoon hours. Large hail, between quarter and golf ball size, was the main threat, along with isolated severe wind gusts. Hail nearly covered the ground near Fort Sisseton. Hail also covered the ground, up to three inches deep in some spots, six miles east of Carpenter. Penny to quarter-size hail and 55 mph wind gusts were reported eight miles east-southeast of Rosseau. Tree branches, 4 inches in diameter, were downed.
