Thunderstorms formed during the early morning hours as an upper level short-wave moved into an environment of enhanced instability and strong deep layer shear. Some of these storms became severe over southwest and south central North Dakota, producing large hail. The largest hail reported was the size of a golf ball, and fell in Grant County south of Brisbane.
