A severe thunderstorm producing winds estimated near 60 mph knocked down trees onto wires to the northeast of Beech Creek.

Showers and thunderstorms with discrete cells developed over northern Pennsylvania during the afternoon of August 4, 2023, ahead of an approaching cold front. As these storms progressed southeastward across the area through the afternoon and early evening hours, they produced sporadic large hail and damaging winds.
