Wider weather episode

A cold front moved eastward from the Ohio Valley during the afternoon of July 3, 2023, which led to an organized line of thunderstorms advancing into the region. Abundant moisture an very warm temperatures created an environment that supported strong downdraft winds from thunderstorms. As the increased moisture converged along the higher terrain of the mountains, scattered thunderstorms developed, and caused pockets of wind damage.
