Event narrative

Reports of widespread damage at the Georgia Mountain Fair Campground on Lake Chatuge in Hiawassee. Dozens of trees were blown down, including several on vehicles and camper vans/trailers.

Wider weather episode

Thunderstorms moved across an unstable airmass located mostly over Mississippi, Alabama, and Western Georgia in the afternoon hours. Storms were able to produce outflow strong enough to further develop spotty clustering of thunderstorms across North and Northeast GA.
