During the evening of the 15th a complex of thunderstorms moved northwest to southeast from eastern New Mexico through western portions of the combined Panhandles. These storms grew in strength and produced 1 diameter hail and some severe wind gusts between 58 and 85 mph. The 85 mph was estimated by damage done by the wind. The ASOS located in Dalhart did measure a 70 mph wind gust though.
