A cluster of storms formed over the Upper Mississippi River Valley the during the afternoon of July 22nd. As the storms continued south through southeast Minnesota they became nearly linear, reaching northeast Iowa during the evening hours. There was a report of ping-pong sized hail near New Hampton (Chickasaw County).
