Emergency managers reported that a zinc roof fell from a garage at the Police Traffic Department in Aguadilla. The estimated wind speed was 40-50 mph.

The combination of abundant tropical moisture from a departing tropical wave interacting with an upper-level trough north of the region produced strong afternoon thunderstorms over northwestern Puerto Rico on the 9th of August. A weak EF-0 tornado and strong outflow boundaries caused thunderstorm wind damage across the municipality of Aguadilla.
