The fire rapidly grew to around 530 acres. Ten homes were destroyed along with 50 minor structures.

During a period of hot, dry and windy conditions a wildfire erupted near Underwood, Washington. The fire was reported on July 2nd 1119 PDT. The cause of the fire is under investigation and was expected to be contained by August.
