Event narrative

Non-convective shower activity approaching and moving through the region resulted in a period of strong sustained winds and gusts at many observing sites. Some observations included 64 mph at the VERNON HILL mesonet site and 62 mph at the SR-201 at I-80 mesonet site.

Wider weather episode

An active pattern resulted in strong wind gusts in addition to isolated flash flooding to start the month of September.
