Event narrative

An NMDOT site on the Lordsburg Playa recorded a peak gust of 61 mph which created areas of blowing dust reducing visibilities to under a half mile.

Wider weather episode

A weak surface low was located just south of the New Mexico Bootheel while a disturbance associated with an upper trough crossing the Great Lakes. A large temperature/dew point spread aided in strong wind gusts which crossed the Lordsburg Playa.
