Mesonet site XGRS at Fire Island Coast Guard in NY measured a 45 knot wind gust.
Wider weather episode
A stalled frontal boundary and lingering upper level trough allowed thunderstorms to form and move east through the area. Some of the storms became severe and produced damaging wind gusts.
