A 50-knot wind gust was measured at the FM 456 mesonet site as a strong thunderstorm moved through the Van Vleck area.

Wider weather episode

Severe storms developed along a slowly moving frontal boundary on the afternoon of September 25, producing wind damage across the region. The area around Edna was especially hard hit with widespread wind damage and a brief tornado.
