The combination of much above average temperatures and a prolonged period of mostly dry conditions allowed D2 Severe Drought to expand into eastern and southern Roberts, most of Grant, and the northeast corner of Codington County. High temperatures exceeded 100 degrees in a few locations on July 26th.
