Event narrative

On the evening of August 15, 2023, lightning strikes triggered the outbreak of the SKU August Lightning Complex. The fire was located 2 miles south of Yreka, CA. It was burning in timber and brush with energy infrastructure threatened. As of the last report at 0530 on 08/26, the complex was 883 acres, 95 percent contained, did not destroy any structures, and cost $8M.
