Exceptional drought (D4) continued across most of the county for July but improved to severe drought (D3) in the far southern and southwest portions of the county by the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Exceptional drought (D4) and severe drought (D3) continued across much of the region during the July. There was some beneficial rain in South Central Kansas which allowed several counties to improve significantly to where no drought conditions existed or improved to moderate drought (D2) by the end of the month.
