A peak wind gust of 68 MPH was measured by an automated weather station located 13 miles south-southwest of Rangely.
Wider weather episode
A strong low pressure system and associated cold front moved across the Western Slope. This brought strong and gusty southwest winds to the area. Wind speeds exceeded 58 mph in the valleys with gusts greater than 75 mph across the mountains.
