Event narrative

Observation taken with a handheld Kestrel Anemometer just west of Middletown. Gusts of 50-60 mph continued after the initial outflow moved through for approximately 20 minutes.

Wider weather episode

A severe mesoscale convective system (MCS) moved through the forecast area during the afternoon hours producing widespread 60-70mph winds and associated damage. The complex moved to the southeast taking advantage of 3500-4500 J/kg of surface-based CAPE.
