A copious amount of nickel to quarter sized hail resulted in the dispatch of New Mexico Department of Transportation snowplows on Interstate 25.
Wider weather episode
A large scale weather system interacted with an unstable and moist airmass to produce severe storms over parts of eastern NM. Accumulating hail and minor flooding were observed in Las Vegas, along with a severe thunderstorm wind gust at Tucumcari.
