Event narrative

At 5:02 pm on 9/29, the emergency manager reported minor coastal flooding across portions of South Flagler Avenue near South 23rd Street in Flagler County. Afternoon tides were peaking in the Matanzas River at the time of the report. On 9/30 at 4:30 pm, the emergency manager reported minor tidal flooding across South Flagler Avenue near 23rd street with 6-10 inches of standing water near high tide. On 9/30 at 10:30 pm, the EM reported street flooding near the Matanzas Woods Parkway around the time of high tide.

Wider weather episode

Coastal hazard potential increased through the week as high astronomical spring tides coincided with a persistent onshore flow pattern. Coastal hazards include increasingly strong and frequent rip currents, beach erosion and minor to moderate tidal flooding along the coast, within the Intracoastal Waterway and St. Johns River basin.
