Training showers and thunderstorms affected portions of Rutland County, VT during the late afternoon and evening hours of August 4, 2023. Areas in the City of Rutland were particularly hard hit by significant flash flooding after two and a half to four inches of rain fell. Areas along East Creek, Moon Brook and Tenney Brook bore the brunt of the flooding, with many roads closed or impacted by high water. Nearly two dozen residents were evacuated along Clover St. near the Moon Brook as homes were inundated and their electrical systems compromised.

Training showers and thunderstorms with torrential rainfall affected portions of Rutland and Windsor Counties in Vermont during the late afternoon and early evening hours of August 4, 2023. The City of Rutland experienced significant flash flooding with roads closed and some significant property/infrastructure damage. Some of these thunderstorms also produced wind damage and hail.
