Multiple waterspouts were reported over the Albemarle Sound south of Jarvisburg, NC. Report initially came in from the broadcast media to NWS Wakefield and was then relayed to NWS Newport/Morehead City.

Wider weather episode

Widespread strong to severe thunderstorms impacted the inland rivers, sounds and coastal waters across eastern North Carolina during the afternoon and evening of July 9th. These thunderstorms brought damaging winds as well as waterspouts to the area.
