LANDSPOUT. Location: 33.584, -102.615. An emergency management official reported a brief landspout spin-up south of Whiteface along an outflow boundary from a thunderstorm approaching Whiteface.

Wider weather episode

Widespread severe storms affected portions of the South Plains and Rolling Plains on the afternoon of the fourth supported by unseasonably warm temperatures and strong instability. The instability fueled numerous thunderstorms, some which were severe and produced torrential rainfall near and ahead of a cold front. The most intense storms generated very large hail, as big as three inches in diameter near Reese Center (Lubbock County). A supercell thunderstorm tracked from Cochran County through Crosby County dumping a swath of very large hail across northern Lubbock County.
