Event narrative

There were numerous reports of quarter to golf ball size hail the south and southwest of Midwest from Interstate 25 to Wyoming Highway 259. The hail accumulated a few inches along Highway 259, leading to travel being hampered for a few hours.

Wider weather episode

A cold front moved across central Wyoming and brought large hail to portions of Natrona and Fremont Counties. There were numerous reports of hail from penny to golf ball size across the two aforementioned counties. With the slow movement of the storms, hail accumulated several inches in some places. The two hardest hit areas were along Highway 259 and Interstate 25 south of Midwest in Natrona County as well as Highway 28 over South Pass. Plows had to clear the hail of the road at South Pass.
