Wind gust was recorded on a personal weather station along the Neuse River 1 mile east-northeast of the Coastal Carolina Regional Airport.
Wider weather episode
A line of thunderstorms developed across the Coastal Plain during the afternoon hours and tracked eastwards during the evening hours eventually pushing off the coast overnight. This line of storms brought strong wind gusts to portions of the Pamlico, Pungo, Neuse, and Bay Rivers, as well as the coastal waters between Surf City and Cape Lookout.
