Event narrative

The Bryan County 911 Call Center reported two trees and a power line down along Highway 280, located near the cross streets of Harvey Road as well as Groveland Nevils Road.

Thunderstorms across the Deep South were forced eastward by a shortwave across southeast Georgia during late afternoon and early evening hours, encountering a very unstable airmass marked by high levels of mixed-layer CAPE, strong low-level lapse rates, strong 0-6 km bulk shear and inverted v soundings displaying high levels of downdraft CAPE. As a result, several thunderstorms became severe, producing damaging winds and small hail across southeast Georgia.
