The Edisto Buoy (41004) measured a marine thunderstorm wind gust of 35 knots.

Wider weather episode

A cluster of thunderstorms ongoing across parts of central Georgia was forced eastward by a shortwave across the local area, encountering moderate levels of surface-based CAPE, strong low-level lapse rates, high levels of downdraft CAPE and moderate levels of 0-6 km bulk shear. As a result, a few thunderstorms became strong to severe with damaging winds, eventually shifting offshore and tracking across coastal waters.
