Maximum sustained winds were in the 30-34 knot range over Lake Okeechobee, with a peak sustained wind of 34 knots out of the south at the SFWMD north end sensor. Peak wind gusts were in the 35-48 knot range.

The center of Hurricane Idalia passed about 180 miles west of Naples as a Category 2 moving north over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. The outermost edge of Idalia's tropical storm force wind field brought tropical storm force winds to parts of Lake Okeechobee, and near tropical storm force winds to the nearshore Atlantic waters of SE Florida.
