Event narrative

A person doing yard work at their home was struck by lightning and injured. The person was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The person was conscious and talking while being transported.

Wider weather episode

An upper low and associated cold pool aloft crossed the region during the afternoon of the 5th. Steep lapse rates with diurnal heating and the cold pool aloft supported thunderstorm development during the afternoon. Some of the thunderstorms produced hail. Several individuals were also struck by lightning.
