Report relayed via social media of mainly dime sized hail, but a few golf-ball sized hail stones aboard Joseph L. Block, 5mi W of Martin Reef Light, SE of Cedarville.

A shortwave trough punched over the northern Great Lakes on 8/3, providing favorable forcing aloft to support scattered thunderstorm development amidst ample instability in place during the afternoon. One of these storms produced golf ball sized hail over far northern Lake Huron that was reported aboard the Joseph L. Block freighter.
