Buoy station SHBL1 Shell Beach, LA measured a gust of 44 mph or 38 knots.

Wider weather episode

A typical summertime convective regime was in place for the 15th. With the persistent ridging over the area, the convection had more dry air to work with, so the stronger storms were able to produce damaging winds across parts of southeast Louisiana and coastal Mississippi before fading off after sunset.
