Severe (D2) drought conditions persisted through the end of September across the southern quarter of Thomas County.

The wider storm

Drought conditions continued to improve across western and north central Nebraska in September. By the end of the month severe (D2) drought conditions were only present in a small area in the central Sandhills, as well as portions of eastern Holt and southeastern Custer County.
