What the National Weather Service wrote

Thunderstorm winds blew down several trees as well as power lines along Highway J about 5 miles northeast of Linn. Also, more trees were blown down about 5 miles east of Linn.

The wider storm

A severe mesoscale convective system (MCS) moved through the forecast area during the afternoon hours producing widespread 60-70mph winds and associated damage. The complex moved to the southeast taking advantage of 3500-4500 J/kg of surface-based CAPE.
