Event narrative

In an area from about 4 miles west of Foley south to Old Monroe, widespread tree and power line damaged occurred. Also, in Old Monroe the fire department's repeater tower was blown down.

Wider weather episode

A severe mesoscale convective system (MCS) moved through the forecast area during the afternoon hours producing widespread 60-70mph winds and associated damage. The complex moved to the southeast taking advantage of 3500-4500 J/kg of surface-based CAPE.
