Many severe thunderstorms developed during the afternoon and evening across southeast New Mexico and the Permian Basin. These thunderstorms developed within strong mid-level flow aloft as a trough passed across the Midwest and a cold front sagged into the region. Damaging wind gusts and large hail were observed with thunderstorms across the region.
