Event narrative

All parts of the county improved during the month of October. Improvement was from extreme drought (D3) in the far northwestern areas of the county and severe drought (D2) to moderate drought (D1) across the county. The only exception was the far northwest corner of the county which remained in severe drought (D2).

Wider weather episode

Much of South Central and Southeast Kansas improved significantly during the month of October. However, there still remain large areas of the region that remain in severe drought (D2) extreme drought (D3).
