All areas of the county improved from exceptional drought (D4) to extreme drought (D3). Some areas of far western Elk County improved to severe drought (D2).

Wider weather episode

Much of South Central and Southeast Kansas improved significantly during the month of October. However, there still remain large areas of the region that remain in severe drought (D2) extreme drought (D3).
